The power of tapping.


The eye tapping (EFT) point.

Say what? Tapping or Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) according to The Tapping Solution, “…is a set of techniques which utilize the body’s energy meridian points. You can stimulate these meridian points by tapping on them with your fingertips – literally tapping into your body’s own energy and healing power.”


Sounds a bit woo-woo? At first I didn’t get it, but now I feel the power of changing my own story and reaction to certain situations or circumstances.


Let me explain, I have been meditating for 4 or 5 years. Meditation has been a game-changer for me. Hands down, the best way to see the change you want and to manage stress. I was using somatic meditation religiously and found it profound. (Somatic meditation is just a guided meditation that takes you into your body to relax it. For free meditations, click here). But now I have switched to tapping. I started tapping a few months ago. And when I first started, I wasn’t so sure of its effectiveness. But now I’m a believer.


Some of you know I have been a life-long sufferer of anxiety. I have had panic attacks which have woke me up in the middle of the night with tightness in my chest, panicked breathing and racing heart-rate. With tapping, you verbally acknowledge this anxiety and accept it. Tapping always starts out with the “negative”, but then changes to the positive as you go deeper into the tapping meditation. For instance, you would think about a situation that causes you anxiety, and then associate a calm, relaxed body and mind with that anxiety-producing situation. You keep repeating and reinforcing this feeling and message to the brain. That’s why you have to stick with it. One tapping meditation is not going to “fix” all your issues. This is what I mean by it helps change “your story” you tell your mind and body.


And it’s not just for anxiety, you can tap for guilt, headaches, sleep, happiness, stress, motivation, relationships, finances, weight loss and more. For example, I’ve used ones to stop panic attacks, as well as stress about money.
